Today's installment is how to make egg slices and deviled eggs...both of which are really easy and great for a beginner or even a teenager to do. Here is what you will need:

Supplies:

1 sheet of white felt
1 sheet of yellow felt
1 hank of yellow embroidery floss
1 hank of white embroidery floss
1 hank of rust embroidery floss
small amount of poly-fiber fill stuffing (for deviled eggs)
scissors
embroidery needle
tape measure/ruler
Paper (to make pattern)

Paper Patterns: For my round egg slices, I drew a 1 3/4" diameter circle onto paper. I also drew a 1 1/4" circle onto paper for my yolk and then cut them out. For my deviled egg, I drew a 2 1/4" long by 1 1/2" wide oval onto paper (boiled egg) and a 1" diameter circle (yolk).

To Make Egg Slices:

Cut out 2 round circle from white felt and 1 round circle from yellow felt. Using 2 strands of yellow embroidery floss, hand stitch the yellow yolk piece (circle) to the center of 1 of your white round egg slices. Place that piece directly on top of the plain white circle and whip stitch or blanket stitch around the edges.

To Make The Deviled Eggs:

Cut out 2 ovals from white felt and 1 circle (yolk) from yellow felt. Using 2 strands of yellow embroidery floss, hand stitch the yellow yolk piece (circle) to the fat end of your white oval piece. Using 2 strands of rust colored embroidery floss, make several french knots on the yolk circle to represent paprika dots, knot off when finished. Place your 2 white felt oval pieces together and whip stitch or blanket stitch 3/4 of the way around them, before finishing, add just a tad of stuffing inside to add a little shape to it and then finish stitching it shut.

Each sheet of felt will make numerous egg slices or deviled egg slices, this project is a great way to use up some of your yellow and white felt scrap pieces because they are small in nature...the perfect size for little girl play dishes!
