Kids Craft Project - Beaded Candy Cane Holiday Tree Ornaments

If you are looking for an inexpensive and quick project for small children to make, consider these holiday beaded candy cane ornaments. You only need three items to make them (pipe cleaners and beads).

Beaded Candy Cane Holiday Christmas Ornaments

Supplies Needed:

Pipe cleaner (we used gold metallic ones)
10 white plastic pony beads
9 red plastic 6mm round beads (or pony beads)
Scissors
(optional) 1/4" wide red satin ribbon

Cut your pipe cleaner down until it measures 7" in length. Bend over one end so that it forms a tiny loop. (this will keep the beads from rolling off).

Thread on a white then red bead and continue threading on the beads until you fill up the pipe cleaner and ending with a white pony bead. Bend over the end to keep the beads on it securely.

Now shape your beaded stick into a candy cane shape. It can be hung directly on a tree branch as is or you can add a piece of string and make a hanging loop, the choice is yours.

Optional: If desired, you can cut a piece of 1/4" wide by 6" long red satin ribbon and tie it around your candy cane to make a bow.
