Today...I am sharing with all of you a traditional 12 x 12 scrapbooking page layout that I did featuring her 1st day of School.
My background is a sheet of printed paper that is done in a schoolhouse theme. I used one vertical 4" by 6" photo of my grand daughter on the layout and matted that photo on dark red, yellow and green cardstock to frame it up. I left an 1/8" edge with the dark red and yellow mats and a 3/16" edge on the green one. Underneath the photo is a Brad Buddy in red that says GIGGLE.
The title of this page is 1st Day School. I used a chipboard black #1 and two sticker letters on a yellow cardstock block for the 1st and matted that on dark red and green cardstock, leaving a 1/16" edge around each mat. I used black sticker letters to spell out the word DAY and did the same matting color scheme as I just described. Both are attached to the page using adhesive foam dots and are to the left of the photograph.
I used my Cricut to cut out pennant flags from yellow, black and green cardstock. I used the 1 1/4" setting, the 1 1/2" setting and then the 1 3/4" setting and layered the three colors together to form one pennant per letter. I used adhesive black Alpha letters and spelled out the word SCHOOL. I used a piece of 1/8" by 11" red ribbon and strong it across the top and anchored each end with a metallic dark red heart brad. I used tiny glue dots to adhere the ribbon to the page. I then used adhesive to attach each pennant to the ribbon to form my title.
This page took me about 2 hours to make but was done on the frugal side since I used mostly paper that I pieced together for most of my embellishments. The rest was left-overs that I had from other projects so its a nice FRUGAL page and great for using up things from your scrap box. Overall, I am pretty pleased with how it turned out. There are 2 coordinating pages to go along with this one and you can find them on my blog in the scrapbooking section.

You always do such a beautiful job with your scrapbooks. This layout is creative and makes me think I can feel your granddaughter's reactions to her school.
