First Day of School Scrapbooking Layout Idea

Last Fall my little grand daughter attended her first year of school. Here in our area they attend Kindergarten all day long...but she was prepared for that since she had just finished up 2 years of all-day preschool. Luckily for us, we live 5 minutes away and were able to spend the morning with her and watch her get onto the school bus for the very first time!

I am a traditional scrapbooker so this First Day of School scrapbook layout is done in the traditional 12" by 12" size. Sorry people...I am not into digital scrapbooking at all!

The background is a 12 x 12" sheet of yellow cardstock. I had a piece of school theme scrapbooking paper that had an all-over print to it. I cut just the school out of that piece of paper and a 2 3/4" wide strip and used that as the bottom border on this layout.

I used two 4" by 6" photos which I slightly cropped down. I matted them onto dark green and dark red cardstock and left an 1/8" edge. The title is KINDERGARTEN and I used red & white alpha stickers and placed them on black cardstock blocks. I cut each of them out and just placed them at the top of the page. I did the same exact thing for the word BUS and the 2014 which is underneath the right photo.

I used my Cricut and the Paper Dolls cartridge to cut out my stop sign from red textured cardstock. I matted it onto black cardstock and left just a tiny 1/16" edge. I used white alpha letters to spell out the word STOP and placed them on the stop sign. I used a fine point black marker and edged out the letters to add more definition to them. I used a fine tip chalk ink marker in white and framed out the edges of the stop sing to add some depth and to make it look more realistic.

To finish up I used two vellum word stickers that I had leftover from another project. One says GIRLS ROCK and the other one says DIVA. Both are underneath the photo on the left and were attached using clear glue dots that are made for vellum. Above the photo on the left is a 3-dimensional tag that says All In A Days Work and I used 2 pieces of ribbon in yellow & red to finish that off.

Overall, I like the look of this page and it didn't take a long time to do nor did it cost me a lot of money. I basically used items from my scrap box or used my Cricut to make the layout. A nice easy one for beginners or for people who are looking for quick and easy. You can find coordinating First Day of School Scrapbooking Layouts here on my blog.

All your Scrapbooking layouts are so creative that they encourage me to try my hand at this. Since I now have twin grandsons they are an incentive to try this rather than digital Scrapbooking.
