Rustic Wedding Scrapbooking Page Layout Idea

As you all know...one of my favorite crafting medium happens to be scrapbooking. While many people are now into digital scrapbooking, I am still one of those who LOVES paper crafting and continue to scrapbook the traditional way.

Six months ago my daughter got married in a beautiful outdoor setting with over 150+ guests in attendance. For the past few months I have been working on her wedding scrapbook (many of those layouts are found here on my blog in the scrapbooking category) and today I wanted to share a new 12" by 12" page idea with all of you.

My background is a textured piece of olive green cardstock measuring 12" by 12" in size. Layered on top is an oriental print of textured cardstock with a green, brown and pale red pattern. That piece measures 10" by 7" in size. I used chocolate brown ink and inked around the edges and placed a dark brown photo corner in each of the four corners.

I took a 5" by 7" wedding photo and matted in onto olive green cardstock, then white cardstock and then brown cardstock (triple mat) leaving an 1/8" edge around the green & white mats and a 3/16" edge around the chocolate brown mat. I accented the photo with a "Husband & Wife" file tab at the top and underneath the photo is a cardstock cut-out that says "This Is Your Life" which I attached with tiny dark brown brads.

I made my own border strip using a piece of that oriental paper that is underneath the large photo and cut it down to measure 1 3/4" by 8" in length. I inked around the edges in brown and then added three 3-dimensional embellishments to it (2 layered hearts with tiny buttons and a cardstock printed envelope that says forever). In each corner of my background sheet I placed a 3-dimensional cardstock sticker of white flowers (corner embellishments) to pull the design out to the corners and the edges.

To accent the large wedding photo I added a tag at the top right corner that says Forever & Ever and attached it with a dark chocolate brad. I also inked around the edges so that it would pop off the page. To finish up I added one more 3-dimensional chipboard embellishment  to the right of the photo that says "Live Laugh Love".

I really like how this rustic wedding scrapbook page layout turned out. I wanted my color scheme to match the photo which is done mostly in earth tones. The only pop of color on the entire page is the blue & white wedding bouquet and the groom's tie and vest which are both in the center of the layout. It's really appealing overall to the eyes and the viewer is immediately drawn to the bride & the groom.
