How To Make Homemade Finger Paints For The Kids

Here at our home we do not purchase finger paints...we do it the frugal and safe way by making our own homemade finger paints which is really easy to do. Besides the supplies listed below you will need some old small plastic containers with lids...we like to use old plastic butter/margarine containers for this project.

Homemade Finger Paints Recipe
2 cups of plastic liquid starch
1 cup of Ivory Snow detergent flakes
food coloring (we like the primary colors)
finger painting paper, watercolor paper or freezer paper

Combine liquid starch and Ivory Snow in a large bowl. Beat with a mixer until the volume is tripled. Divide, add in food coloring as desired. Store in covered containers in the refrigerator.

You will want to lay down some old newspapers or an old plastic cheap tablecloth before you put the paints and paper out for the kid's to paint. (this can get messy!)
