Easy To Make Beaded Snowflake Ornaments

If you are looking for a craft project that you can make with older children, I think this one will suit your needs. You will need to go to your local craft store and purchase a few items but other than that, they are pretty simple.

We made 14 of these ornaments and it cost us less than $10.00 because I already had paint and glue on hand.

Beaded Snowflake Ornaments

Here are the materials that you will need.

1" diameter flat back round cork shape
acrylic paint to match one of your bead colors
paint brush
all-purpose quick-drying craft glue
scissors
6 (1 1/2" long) straight pins with little pearl-style heads
1 package 4 mm faceted plastic round beads
1 package tri-beads
2 flat back rhinestone jewelry findings
4" piece gold metallic cord (hanger)
newspapers
paper towels
water dish

Note: Since you will be doing a little painting, lay several layers of newspaper down onto your work surface. Use the paper towels and water dish to clean your paint brush.

Step 1: Paint your front side and sides of your round cork and let dry for 15 minutes before flipping it over to paint the back side.

Step 2: Thread a faceted round bead, a tri-bead and another round bead onto your straight pin until you have a total of 5 beads on your pin. Dip the pointed end of the pin into craft glue and jab into the side of your cork (see photo for placement). You will need to do this step until your snowflake has 6 spokes.

Step 3: Using craft glue, attach a rhinestone to the center of your cork on each side, we used clear ones with little gold-tone bezels. Using a 4" piece of gold metallic cord, tie it around one of your spokes with a knot to form a hanging loop.

Let your snowflake ornaments dry for a few hours before hanging them onto your holiday tree or before attaching them to your holiday packages.
