Preschool - Owl Paper Craft Art Project Idea

Here is a great project for preschool and early elementary school-aged children. We did this project with a group of 4 and 5 year old kids. It is great for teaching them hand & eye coordination and all about owls and different paper shapes. The total project time is about 20-30 minutes.

Owl Refrigerator Art - Paper Craft Project

* Construction Paper: Black, Light Pink, Dark Pink, Blue, Peach, White
(or) any colors you choose or have on-hand

* Scissors

* Glue Sticks (The kind used in scrapbooking)

* Information Card: We typed up information about owls

Before the kids got started we talked to them about owls. We told them about some of the different varieties of owls, what they eat, where they tend to nest and other facts. Once we are done, we left each child hand draw an owl shape and cut it out.

We then talked about the "triangle" shape and had them cut out triangles of different sizes and from different colors of paper. They glued them onto their owls and then finished up by making eyes and coloring on some inner ears.

The preschoolers can make them simple like ours or really fancy them up. Totally up to you but the kids we worked with really enjoyed learning about owls this way and we reinforced with information about triangles. Plus, it kept them busy since they couldn't go outside and play due to the bad weather.

I love this project and it is perfect for little kids. I like that it can be made simple or fancy according to the child's ability and desire.
