FREE Crochet Dress Refrigerator Magnets Pattern

A few weeks ago I found this really easy crochet pattern online to make cute dresses refrigerator magnets! You can make them in any color combination that you want and besides the yarn all you will need is some glue, satin ribbon and a magnet to complete them.

These crochet fridgies work up super quickly...I was able to crochet 3 of them in less than 1 hour and a great way to use up some of your yarn scraps. You can find the FREE pattern over Marie's Cozy Corner Blog. As Marie suggested...you can make up a lot of them in baby girl colors and use them at a baby shower for table favors which I think is a fabulous idea!

Play Food - FREE Felt Fudgesicles Popsicles Pattern!

If you have been following my craft blog...you will have noticed that I love making play food aka felt food for my little grand daughters kitchen set. Today I am posting my next installment which is how to make popsicles or in this case...how to make fudgesicles out of craft felt. This project is really easy to do and you can make one in less than 1 hours time. You can hand sew or machine sew the popsicle together...choice is yours! You can change the colors of your felt to make a variety of popsicle flavors...use peach or light orange to make creamsicles or use purple or lime green to make summer popsicles.

Felt Popsicles:
1 sheet of craft or wool felt (I used brown so I could make a fudgesicle)
1 wooden popsicle stick (washed & dried)
small piece of quilt batting that is 1/4" thick
small amount of craft glue
brown embroidery floss & needle if sewing by hand or brown thread if machine sewing

Pattern: I drew my own from a sheet of paper. You can trace around a normal sized popsicle to get the shape and size right.

From brown felt, cut 2 front and backs for your popsicle. For the sides, you will want to cut a strip from brown felt that measures 1/4" by the entire circumference of your popsicle. Using 2 strands of embroidery floss, stitch the long strip to the front of your popsicle felt piece using tiny little stitches, leaving the bottom of the popsicle open. Using 2 strands of brown floss, stitch the back piece to the long strip, again leaving the bottom open. Using scissors, cut a very small slit the width of your wooden popsicle stick in the strip of felt that runs across the bottom of your popsicle. Place the quilt batting inside the popsicle shape. Place some craft glue onto the wooden popsicle stick and insert it up through the slit in the felt so that 2/3 of the stick remains out. Using 2 strands of brown floss, handstitch the bottom together and let dry.
You can make these in any color combination that you want and it's a great way to reuse wooden popsicle sticks that you normally throw out. You can find more felt food aka play food patterns on my blog -----> HERE

Play Food - FREE Felt Food Whoopie Pie Pattern!

Here in Pennsylvania, Chocolate Whoopie pies are very popular and here in my household...that is no exception! I decided to make some whoopie pies out of felt for my little grand daughters play food collection that she uses in her play kitchen. These whoopie pies are super easy to make and you can hand sew or machine sew them together.

Felt Whoopie Pies:
chocolate brown and white craft or wool felt
brown and white embroidery floss with needle
small amount of stuffing
scissors

Pattern: I made my own from a piece of paper. You will need two 3 1/4" diameter circles cut from chocolate brown felt.

From brown felt, cut out two circles with each one measuring 3 1/4" in diameter. From white felt cut a strip that measures 1/4" by the circumferece of your circle...my strip measures 1/4" by 10 3/4" long. You will also need a strip cut from brown felt that measures 1/4" by 10 3/4" long. Using 2 strands of brown floss, handstitch the brown strip to one of your brown circles. Once you have it attached, handstitch the other edge of the strip to the other brown circle. Right before you close it up, insert some stuffing and then finish your stitching. For the white icing aka vanilla filling...you can hand sew it onto the whoopie pie around the sides or do what I did and that was just glue it on with some tacky glue. Isn't the whoopie pie cute? LOL

Very quick and easy project that little girl's would love to have these felt foodie items for their kitchen play sets. Great items for creative fun!

Handpainted Silverware Spoons Christmas Ornaments

I love going out and browsing and shopping our local fall craft shows as it always gets me into the holiday shopping & crafting mood. I was fortunate enough to visit 2 local craft shows in the past 3 weeks and I noticed a big trended here in our area.

I saw a lot of artists and crafters displaying their handpainted silverware spoon ornaments and customers were snatching them up pretty quickly. Since I love Cardinals, I decided to purchase this cardinal ornament.

As you can see, the crafter/artist handpainted the design on the back of a tablespoon and did an excellent job with it. (personally, I stink at painting LOL). If you look a little closer, you will notice that they bent over the handle of the tablespoon so that you can hang it onto your holiday tree as an ornament.

I think its a really cute idea and a great way to reuse (repurpose) old silverware teaspoons and tablespoons!

Easy Crochet STAR Christmas Tree Ornament Pattern!

Several months ago one of my friends in my ornament exchange group made these cute holiday tree ornaments by crocheting them out of red and green yarn. She got the pattern from the Caron Yarn Web Site ---> HERE

These ornaments work up quickly and would look cute hanging on a Christmas Tree, off a Holiday Garland or use them for Package Toppers.

My friend used some glitter glue on her's...just around the edges to add some sparkle to them. I think they are cute!

Scrapbooking - Easy Beach Time Fun Layouts For Your Scrapbook

I love scrapbooking...guess you can tell by all of the blog posts I make on that particular crafting medium. Today's post features 2 different layouts that I did using almost the same photo's from a recent trip down to the Jersey Shore. The first layout is more involved and took more time & supplies. The second layout was really easy and took about 25 minutes.

First Layout: (Shown Above)

For this layout I wanted to use up some self-stick plastic mesh and some glitter stickers that I had on hand. I chose to work in a sandy tan color and a bright pink since the baby had a lot of bright pink in her bathing suit she was wearing. This was the first time she has played in the ocean water on the beach so I wanted to capture that memory for years to come.

I took a preprinted 12x12 piece of scrapbook paper that was done in a tan sandy beach print...it is very subtle and used that for my background. I cut a piece of the plastic mesh (in a bright pink color) to fit across the bottom of my page. On top of that is my title which I spelled out in chipboard glitter stickers. There is a lighthouse in teal, the word Ocean in Teal, a white glittery sun, the word Escape in dark teal and at the end of the title is a lime green palm tree. All are glitter stickers. I decided to use 3 photo's in this layout and cropped them down and rounded their corners. I decided to mount them onto bright pink paper leaving an 1/8" border and rounded the corners again. I took another piece of plastic mesh and cut it to measure 3" by 9" in size and ran that down the right side of my page. I then tacked my verticle photo on top of it leaving some of the plastic mesh sticking out of the top & bottom of the photo. I then placed a pink seashell glitter stick on the top of the mesh and a teal colored glitter stick of another seashell on the bottom. Right above that I used stickers to spell out the words Summer Fun in hot pink. I applied the final 2 photo's to the left side of my layout. The top photo has a glitter sticker word that says BEACH BUM in pink on the left side of the photo and the bottom photo has a glitter sticker of a tropical fish in light teal on the right side of it. You can see the photo's for placement of all items.

Second Layout: (below)

I had 3 more nice photo's of our day on the beach and I decided to make a page for my daughter's scrapbook...after all...the pics are of my precious grand daughter. My daughter prefers very clean and simple pages so I think this layout will suit her tastes. I used the same color scheme as above...a light tan print background, hot pink plastic mesh and hot pink cardstock to mat the photos. I then accented the page with some seashell, tropical fish and a sailboat sticker. The title which is near the top right was spelled out with letter stickers and it simply says SPLASH TIME! I will let my daughter journal about the day on the backside of the page. As you can see...super easy and it takes about 25 minutes.

Scrapbooking - Easy Bike Riding Layouts For Your Scrapbook

This past summer we enjoyed a family vacation down to the Jersey Shore. While we were there, my hubby took our adult daughter and little grand daughter out for some bike riding on the boardwalk. We got some great photo's of them bike riding and I knew I had to scrapbook a few.

Today I am sharing with you 2 scrapbook layouts...the top one I made and the bottom one my daughter made...same two photo's just arranged differently.

Top Photo:

My color inspiration for this page was the colors of the bike which was red & yellow and I accented those two colors with light blue since G was wearing a light blue shirt.

For my background, I used a piece of 12x12 scrapbook paper that was in a plaid pattern in pale yellow, orange and blue...the perfect colors for my color scheme. Using my Cricut, I cut out a tricycle and a bicycle from red cardstock on the #2 size setting. I also used the Cricut to cut out the letters BIKES from red cardstock. I slightly cropped down my 2 photos, rounded their corners, mounted them onto yellow scrapbooking paper leaving an 1/8" edge. I then mounted them onto red scrapbooking paper leaving a 1/4" edge. I did round the corners of both mats. From red and yellow scrapbooking paper, I made my own tags...you can make yours any size that you would like. I chalked around the edges of my yellow piece of paper using red chalk. I did my journaling on these 2 tags and accented the tags with a pale blue brad. I mounted my photo's onto my page leaving the right edge open (in the center) so that I could slide my journaling tags under the photos...leaving about 1 1/2" of them sticking out. As you can see in the photo, using glue dots I attached my die cut tricycle, bicycle and my word BIKES onto the right hand side of the page. This page took me less than 30 minutes to make.

Page Two: (above)

My daughter wanted to use the same color scheme as I used and the same 2 photos. She cropped her photo's into square shapes & rounded their corners. She mounted them onto yellow scrapbooking paper & rounded the corners again...leaving a 1/4" border. For her background, she used a sheet of scrapbooking paper done in a color block pattern of pale blues. She mounted her 2 photos onto the page. Using my Cricut set on the size 3 setting, she cut out a tricycle from red cardstock & mounted that to the top right of her page. From pale yellow paper she cut out a square that measures 3 1/2" by 3 1/2" and rounded the corners. She chalked the edges in red and mounted it onto red cardstock, trimming 3 edges with a 1/4" border and the bottom with a 1 1/4" border and rounded the corners. She used stickers to spell out her wording and added a pale blue square brad to the bottom of her block. She attached this to the bottom left of her page. Using my cricut set at the #1 size setting, she cut out a mini bicycle from red cardstock and placed that under her journaling block.

As you can see...same photo's, same color scheme but entirely different look to these pages.

Happy Scrapbooking!

Easy To Make Felt Holiday Ornament Refrigerator Magnets

If you are looking for a fun and easy project to do with older children, then perhaps you should consider making some of these felt ornament shaped refrigerator magnets. If magnets are not your thing, you could omit the magnet and add a hanging loop and turn them into tree ornaments. Here is what you will need:

Felt Holiday Ornament Refrigerator Magnets

red and blue craft felt
red and blue thread or embroidery floss
gold sequins and gold seed beads
glitter glue
scissors
4" diameter circle template

For our pattern, we traced around a 4" diameter drinking glass and then hand drew a small rectangle on top of the circle to make our tree ornament shape.

Trace your ornament shape onto red craft felt and cut out. Using that same shape as your template, cut a second one out of blue felt and then cut a 2" section out of the center of the blue felt piece. You will now have 2 blue pieces. Using 2 strands of blue embroidery floss, hand sew the 2 blue pieces to one of your red pieces as show in the photo (for placement). Using brown thread, randomly hand sew on sequins and beads to the blue sections of felt. Next, cut out another red felt piece and then sew both of the red felt pieces together using 2 strands of red embroidery floss. We then used some glitter glue (bottle has a nice tip on it) to write the word "Joy" onto the front of our ornament. Once it was dried, we glued a magnet strip onto the back.

FREE Crochet Pattern - Hearts Refrigerator Magnets!

A few days ago my aunt asked me to crochet some new refrigerator magnets for her to give out to her lady friends and she wanted them heart shaped...so I got online and found a great free pattern that you can find ----> HERE

They used a size F crochet hook but I wanted them a little smaller so I used a size D and they came out just fine. These heart refrigerator magnets work up quickly, I was able to make 6 of them in less than 1 hour. The instructions have 2 ways that you can finish them...one is with a lacey border and one is for a flat edge border...I made them both!

I think they would be super adorable done in red, pink and white for Valentines Day too!

Happy Crocheting!
